Campbell's Soup

This is a Canada vs. Campbell's story.  It's also a story of decent U.S. citizens standing with our Canadian friends as they are rooting for us to reclaim our democracy.  And finally, it's also a story of citizens standing against corporations who engage in trickery and deception.

U.S. citizens were disgusted when Trump went after Canada over and over.  He threatened to make them part of the United States.  He's in an ongoing tariff war with them.  He invites them to talk and then insults them.  Canadians aren't having it.

Most Canadians are boycotting products made in the U.S.   That will hurt many of our companies and ultimately our workers, and yet, we understand and sympathize with what the Canadians are doing.  Most everything trump is doing will hurt us.  We are bracing for it as much as possible and doing our best to stand up for what is right, despite the hurt.

When our Canadian friends shop, they look for the "MADE IN CANADA" logo and actively avoid "MADE IN USA" products.  A few of our USA companies, like Campbell's  are trying to sneak around that by prominently displaying a "DESIGNED in Canada" symbol.  Somewhere on the label, usually down low and in much smaller print, it says "Made in USA".  Canadians caught the deception and they are mad.  As people in the U.S. learn about this trickery, most of us will be mad as well.

People all over are sick and tired of corporate and governmental chicanery.  Once we see the lie, we won't trust them again.  To that point, today (Aug 1), Campbell's announced they are phasing out the DESIGNED in Canada labels.   But the thing is, they never should have done it in the first place.  The trust is gone.  I'm fed up with people we *should* be able to trust using trickery and then after they get called out, thinking they can back paddle and we'll all be good.
