🚧 🚧 🚧 WORK IN PROGRESS 🚧 🚧 🚧
This page will likely be a work in progress for some time. I am uploading it even knowing it is incomplete. I have donated to a few of these programs but have not worked with any of them. I know very little about most of these places and can't vouch for them with any personal experience but most of the resources listed here were passed along to me by people I trust.
WHO IS THIS PAGE FOR?
This page is for ALL of us.
If you need food or know someone who needs help, I hope you will find some resources to help you.
If you are in a position to help by donating and/or volunteering, I hope you will find some useful resources here as well. I will be using it right along with others.
FOOD BANK VS FOOD PANTRY
I was alerted to the fact that these are different things and it is important to know the difference.
A food bank stores the food if there's a surplus and gives it out to food pantries to distribute. People and businesses donate to food banks.
A food pantry is where hungry families go to receive food. But people can donate straight to a pantry as well.
That explanation is oversimplified, but if you want to read a bit more, try this article from FEEDING AMERICA.
QUICK TIP 💰
If you are wanting to donate, one thing I heard from a person with first hand knowledge - it is better to give money than items you bought at the grocery store. They can get more with the money than you can through affiliations with businesses and they can get what they need most. This article explains it well -
Banks and Pantries
(Listed by primary city of operation, but some serve more than one location).
Note: The specific ones I've listed are mostly Southside Atlanta. The exceptions are recommendations of friends who recommended ones in their area. However, at the bottom of the page there are links to help you find food pantries and banks anywhere in the country!!!!
Bonus: A number of the places in this list also offer thrift stores and would appreciate donations. Purchases at the thrift stores typically help supplement the pantries as well.

The Ruwa Romman campaign for governor is doing a state-wide food drive for Nov 8 where the pitch is bring a donation, get a sign. I'm looking for more info on this.
Southside GA Food Pantry and Resources - This is a Facebook group for sharing food insecurity resources. I have just requested to join, so can't say much, however from what I can see so far, they look like a good resource.
Good Morning America - On Oct 30 they aired a nice segment on food insecurities and have a number of resources listed on their accompanying post.
If you're staring at tough choices, go to findhelp.org. Type in your zip code-get connected to local food banks, free groceries, and emergency aid. It works in every city. No strings. Just help. I have not read much about this one yet but saw it recommended. It has a 100% trust score on Scamminder.
