One of the early steps in the impeachment process takes place in the House Judiciary Committee. This committee gets to decide whether or not the process continues and opens up to a vote with all members of the House. If the vote doesn't pass here, it's dead. Since there are so many more Republicans on this committee right now, it will be quite difficult to get an impeachment process beyond this step.
This committee has two web sites:
- The official site - judiciary.house.gov - only represents the Republican view. with 25 members as of April 2026.
- The Democrats have their own Judiciary site - democrats-judiciary.house.gov with 18 members as of April 2026.

* Note: Members of the House come up for re-election every two years. There are likely to be many changes after the 2026 election. Also, there seems to be a number of Republicans who are choosing to step away from politics to spend more time with their family. This list is good as of April, 2026.
