A funding bill needs to be voted on in the Senate by midnight Friday to avoid a partial government shutdown. Included in the bill is funding for the Department of Homeland security, which funds ICE. The House already passed it with 7 Democrats joining in to vote in favor.
There are other parts to the bill that could be separated from the DHS funding. Republican senators are considering voting on the parts likely to pass and putting the DHS funding off.
Opinion: The public needs to speak up loud and clear that DHS is not to be funded until there are big changes in their policies. Also, Noem and Bovino and others who are telling major lies should be impeached.

Funding deal begins to unravel as Senate Democrats vow to oppose DHS bill over Alex Pretti shooting in Minnesota - PBS. Democratic senators are vowing to oppose a funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security following the shooting death of a 37-year-old Minnesota man, a stand that increases the prospect of a partial government shutdown by the end of the week. "Democrats sought common sense reforms in the Department of Homeland Security spending bill, but because of Republicans' refusal to stand up to President Trump, the DHS bill is woefully inadequate to rein in the abuses of ICE," said Schumer, D-N.Y. "I will vote no." Call him!!!
Washington Sen. Patty Murray, the top Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee and key negotiator on the funding package, had been pushing her colleagues to vote for the homeland security bill, arguing that Democrats had successfully fought off major increases to the ICE budget.
"Federal agents cannot murder people in broad daylight and face zero consequences."
But in the wake of the shooting, Murray said Sunday on X that "I will NOT support the DHS bill as it stands." CALL HER TO MAKE SURE SHE DOESN'T CHANGE HER MIND!!!

Democrats vow to oppose homeland security funds after Minnesota shooting as shutdown risk grows - AP News. Six of the 12 annual spending bills for the current budget year have been signed into law by President Donald Trump. Six more are awaiting action in the Senate, despite a revolt from House Democrats and mounting calls for Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s impeachment. Republicans will need some Democratic support to pass the remaining spending bills in time to avoid a partial shutdown. That support was already in question after Renee Good, a mother of three, was fatally shot and killed earlier this month by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis. But the fatal shooting Saturday of Alex Pretti, an intensive care unit nurse, quickly prompted Democrats to take a more forceful stand.
Democrats Vow Not to Fund ICE After Shooting, Imperiling Spending Deal - New York Times. The rapidly escalating opposition to the measure, which includes $64.4 billion for the Department of Homeland Security, including $10 billion for ICE, amplified the likelihood of a partial government shutdown at the end of the month. The legislation requires the support of Democrats to muster the 60 votes needed to avoid a filibuster and advance in the Senate. Recognizing the depth of Democratic outrage, Senate Republicans immediately began examining whether they could separate the homeland security funding from the rest of the package and preserve the bulk of what had been a bipartisan deal to fund a large chunk of the government. The measure also funds the Pentagon and State Department, as well as health, education, labor and transportation programs.
“I’m exploring all options,” said Senator Susan Collins, the Maine Republican who is the chairwoman of the Appropriations Committee, adding that she had been in touch with Senator John Thune, the South Dakota Republican and majority leader. “We have five other bills that are really vital, and I’m relatively confident they would pass.” CALL THEM!
