The topic of this postcard is mostly Darren Beattie. This is another situation where after doing the research behind the story, I feel dirty and disgusted just from reading about this guy. What a sorry excuse for a human.
After doing the research (scroll down to see The Back Story), I struggled with who to send a postcard to. It's pretty clear, Beattie and the folks he works closely with wouldn't care. It seems like being a misogynistic racist is no problem with this administration. In fact, it's looking a lot like it might be a point of pride.
Liberals who pay attention probably already know this stuff. It feels like I'm just throwing my hands up in the air on this one and sending it out hoping that somewhere along the way, someone will read it and become curious.
I decided to send a card straight to the Institute of Peace. It's possible there are a few decent folks still there holding the fort. If so, I want them to know that what's going on is noticed.

The Back Story on Darren Beattie
Darren is the founder of Revolver News, a far right website. Media Bias / Fact Check describes them as - "a questionable source", "low credibility", and "most stories favor the right and frequently utilize loaded emotional headlines and wording". Beattie is big on conspiracy theories about the Jan 6 insurrection.
During trump's first term, Beattie was fired as a White House speechwriter for attending a gathering of white supremacists. There were still some checks and balances in place back then.
When reading various articles, there are a number outrageous remarks and tweets that were often quoted.
- He told various Black people — including Republican Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina — to "learn their place" and "take a knee to MAGA." (Jan, 2021)
- “Population control? If only! Higher quality humans are subsidizing the fertility of lower quality humans.” (May 2024)
- “Competent white men must be in charge if you want things to work. Unfortunately, our entire national ideology is predicated on coddling the feelings of women and minorities, and demoralizing competent white men.” That ought to make perfectly clear where he stands and what kind of person he is. (Oct 2024)
- Beattie voiced support for mass sterilization of "low-IQ trash," complaining, "Higher quality humans are subsidizing the fertility of lower quality humans." (2024)
In February, he was named the acting undersecretary for public diplomacy and public affairs. Marco Rubio, Beattie's current boss, defended his appointment even though Beattie tweeted about Secretary of State Rubio having a "low I.Q." and possibly being gay. Those tweets have been deleted.
Now, as of July 26th, he has been additionally appointed acting president of the U.S. Institute of Peace, according to the State Department. The Institute of Peace is an "independent nonprofit that supports diplomatic solutions to global conflicts. It receives funding from Congress, but it is not a federal agency." "It was founded as an independent, non-profit think tank. It is funded by Congress to promote peace and prevent and end conflicts across the globe."
Earlier this year, DOGE seized control of the institute’s building, citing an executive order from President Trump, then gutted it. You may remember the story about how people in the building valiantly tried to block DOGE, but ultimately were overpowered. The fired staff sued. A Federal judge overturned the takeover and firings. The administration appealed and then a federal appeals court "returned control of the building to the administration while the case was under review." It doesn't appear this was ever settled.
Beattie was appointed by the Institute of Peace’s board of directors. That board includes Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Most of the previous board had been fired.
