Check Your Voting Status - But NOT on Musk's Site!!!

It's no secret that Republicans are doing all sorts of nefarious things to help win the midterms.  Purging voter rolls is being done in some places.  It has been recommended that people check their voting status weekly leading up to the election to make sure they are still active.

Where to check your status or register to vote is getting trickier.

In Georgia, the official place to check your voter status is Mvp.sos.ga.gov.  The MVP stands for MY VOTER PAGE.  Note: It's a "GOV" site.

You can REGISTER to vote or UPDATE your registration on vote.gov. (Also a GOV site.). This site can also direct you to your state site where you can check your status.

There are other sites being promoted that are NOT official government sites.  Elon Musk is up to no good in this election.  He's throwing a ton of money into the midterms and his AMERICA PAC has created a site called V O T E S A F E . O R G.  I used lots of spaces there because I don't want to chance it being used as a link.  The ORG makes the site feel safe, but it's not.  He is collecting your data, selling it to others, and it can be used to target you.

I looked at a lot of sites to verify this story.  One of the most thorough articles was by Judd Legum on his Substack - Popular Information.  Those who read Heather Cox Richardson regularly have probably heard her speak on how much she trusts this source.  I highly recommend you go to his article - The hidden dangers of Musk’s votesafe.org -  and read the whole thing. It even includes pictures of LOTS of the memes being used to promote votesafe, trash Democrats, and more.   The following two screenshots from his article that are quite revealing -

Note:  Musk's site is not the only "tricky" voter site.  There's even one put out by The Heritage Foundation - the writers of Project 2025.

Election Interference?  Republicans are the king of gaslighters.

Elon Musk's VoteSafe.org shares users' personal information. Here's how we know - Snopes   The VoteSafe.org privacy policy page lists only one third party by name that it shares data with: a "business partner" called Western Creative Group. The company has no online presence; its Wyoming business license lists a law firm as its agent and organizer. The Washington Post reported in 2024 that Musk passed $20 million to "an advertising firm called Western Creative Group" to promote the idea that U.S. President Donald Trump "opposed a federal ban on abortion."

Elon Musk is Running a Fake Voter Registration Site Designed to Steal and Sell Data - Yahoo News   What is even more alarming is that VoteSafe.org is also tracking "inferences" that can be made about users based on their personal information. Those include, "a profile relating to your preferences, characteristics, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities and aptitude." Inferences are also available to be shared with their business partners.

The hidden dangers of Musk’s votesafe.org - Popular Information (Judd Legum)   You also agree to receive calls and texts, not only from America PAC, but also from “related entities as well as third parties.”  Votesafe.org is currently configured to share your information with numerous partners and to let advertising companies comprehensively track you across websites, apps, and streaming services.
